The search for new and effective ways to save money has taken many of us in a totally new direction. A direction that can not only help us save money but help the environment too. One of those ways is to build your own small wind turbine. It is not only possible, it is cheap and easy too.

While a wind turbine won’t work for everyone, most people will be able to benefit from building their own. You do need to make sure your location is fairly open so the wind will have a direct path to your turbine.

Sometimes all you have to do is mount it on your roof. You also need to keep in mind that one turbine won’t be enough to provide all the power your house will need. It will, however, be enough to save you hundreds of dollars on your utility bills.

Here are the three basic steps you will need to follow in order to build your own home turbine:

1. Purchase a manual that has detailed instructions on how to build your turbine. A good manual will be easy to understand and lay out exactly what you will need to do as well as what parts and tools you will need.

2. Go to your local hardware store and buy all the parts you will need to assemble your turbine. Costs vary from one part of the country to another, but in most cases the parts shouldn’t cost you more than a few hundred dollars.

3. Assemble your turbine. Depending on the amount of time you can devote to this project daily it could take anywhere from a day or two up to a week or two. It’s not a difficult project to complete but everyone works at their own pace.

So now that you have a basic idea of what’s involved in building your own small wind turbine, I hope you’ll get started right away. The sooner you start, the sooner you can be saving a lot of money.
